About the show

In 1969, The Who created a rock opera that changed the course of music history.

Some 25 years later, The Who’s TOMMY arrived on Broadway, winning 5 Tony Awards® and pushing the boundaries of what musical theatre can be. This March, the Amazing Journey resumes in a dazzling new production direct from a sold-out, record-breaking, award-winning Chicago premiere.

“Broadway has nothing else like this wizardry going on, not this season and nothing I know of for next season. Visually and sonically overwhelming, it’s a prescient masterpiece of a rock opera.” - Chicago Tribune

Stereophonic

Direct from the sold-out Off-Broadway run, David Adjmi’s Stereophonic, featuring original music by Arcade Fire’s Will Butler, zooms in on a music studio in the mid-1970s, where an up-and-coming rock band recording a new album finds itself suddenly on the cusp of superstardom. Will the ensuing pressures spark their breakup — or their breakthrough? Featuring original music by Arcade Fire’s Will Butler, this intimate, electric play mines the agony and the ecstasy of creation. “Critic's Pick! Adjmi ingeniously weaves sound and story into something as granular as it is operatic... A relentlessly compelling production by Daniel Aukin that has the grit of a documentary... as rich and lustrous as they come. You could even call it platinum.” — Jesse Green, The New York Times

The Wiz at the Marquis Theatre

The Wiz

This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway—from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and finger-snapping 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world.

Conjuring up an Oz unlike anything ever seen before, the creative team is helmed by director Schele Williams (The Notebook, revival of Disney’s Aida) and includes choreographer JaQuel Knight (Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”), William F. Brown (book), Charlie Smalls (music & lyrics), Amber Ruffin (additional material), and Joseph Joubert (music supervision, orchestrations, & music arrangements).  They are joined by scenic designer and Academy Award winner Hannah Beachler (Black Panther, Beyonce’s Black is King and Lemonade), costume designer and Emmy and two-time Academy Award nominee Sharen Davis (Ray, Dreamgirls), lighting designer and Barrymore Award winner Ryan J. O’Gara (Thoughts of a Colored Man) and wig designer and Drama Desk award winner Charles LaPointe (MJ the Musical).
