About Here There Are Blueberries
Here There Are Blueberries arrives on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in fall 2026, following acclaimed productions in California and Off-Broadway. Written by Moisés Kaufman and Amanda Gronich, conceived and directed by Kaufman, and presented by Tectonic Theater Project, the play begins previews November 2, opens November 9, and runs for a limited engagement through January 10, 2027.
The story is based on the real discovery of a Nazi-era photograph album that was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2007. The album, which belonged to Auschwitz SS officer Karl Höcker, depicts camp personnel socializing and relaxing away from their duties. As historians investigate the people and places in the photographs, the play explores the gulf between ordinary appearances and extraordinary cruelty, and asks how societies remember and confront the Holocaust. Its title comes from a handwritten caption on photographs of female SS auxiliaries eating blueberries at a retreat near Auschwitz.
A finalist for the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and winner of the 2025 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, Here There Are Blueberries features a Broadway ensemble including Scott Barrow, Michelle Beck, Michael Cerveris, Kathleen Chalfant, Delia Cunningham, Brandon Flynn, Montego Glover, and Conrad Ricamora. The documentary-style drama runs approximately 90 minutes without an intermission and is recommended for audiences ages 12 and older. Its subject matter includes the Holocaust and Nazi perpetrators.
“Precise and intelligent.”

Los Angeles Times “This searing drama builds into an unforgettable inquiry.”
