About Dirty Dancing: The Musical

Dirty Dancing: The Musical makes its Broadway debut at the Lena Horne Theatre in 2027, marking the fortieth anniversary of the much-loved movie. Set in the Catskills in the summer of 1963, the story follows Frances 'Baby' Houseman, who arrives at a resort with her family and falls for Johnny Castle, a charismatic dance instructor. As Baby becomes part of his world, she discovers the joys and complications of first love, independence and standing up for her convictions.

Written by original film screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein, this new stage production incorporates dance-driven storytelling and songs associated with the 1987 movie, including (I've Had) The Time of My Life, Hungry Eyes, Do You Love Me?, and She's Like the Wind. Lonny Price directs, with choreography by Darrell Grand Moultrie. Annalese Starzec plays Baby and Blake Zelesnikar plays Johnny, leading the cast transferring from the production's North American tour. This is the work's first Broadway engagement.

Previews begin February 12, 2027, with a special opening gala on March 14; the limited engagement is scheduled through September 5, 2027. Broadway Direct lists the running time as approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including one intermission, and recommends audiences aged ten and up. Tickets went on public sale October 9, 2026.
