Off-Broadway Discounts by Theater

New York City is known for its theater scene, offering critically acclaimed shows that draw audiences from all over the world. But there’s no denying that ticket costs can make some shows prohibitively expensive. Off-Broadway is a good place to look for great theater at lower prices. But even off-Broadway shows can come with a hefty price tag. Luckily, many off-Broadway theaters offer evergreen discounts – meaning, these discounts are available for almost every show no matter the time of year. Some are specifically for students, veterans, or people under a certain age (usually, 30, 35, or 40), and some are open to everyone. And don’t worry, even if you you’re not able to use one of the below discounts, many shows have steep rush discounts on apps like TodayTix, so it’s always worth checking on a specific show you’re interested in. Here's a list of discounts you can get at each off-Broadway theater!

Access25: The Atlantic offers $25 tickets for every preview performance. Sold first come, first served and on sale roughly two weeks before the first performance of each show. Check out each show’s production page, which will have the date these tickets go on sale (they go fast!).

Student Rush: $20 student rush tickets are available for every performance. Tickets are sold at the box office two hours prior to curtain. One ticket per valid student ID – you must have a physical copy, they won’t accept a photo or digital ID.

Digital Rush: $30 rush tickets are sold on TodayTix.

In-Person Rush: $50 in-person rush tickets are sold at the box office two hours prior to curtain. These tickets are not available if a show is sold out.

Cancellation Line: If a performance is sold out, try the cancellation line. Just go to the box office and sign up. Full-price tickets are sold in the order of when you sign up.

Playwrights Welcome: If you’re a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, you can get free tickets for same-day preview performances, pending availability. Just head to the box office and show your Dramatists Guild membership card.

Student Rush: $20 tickets are available at the box office 90 minutes before each performance for students with a valid student ID. $11 tickets are available for films at BAM Rose Cinemas.

Senior Rush: $25 tickets are available at the box office 90 minutes before each performance for people over 65 years old with a valid photo ID. $11 tickets are available for films at BAM Rose Cinemas.

Veteran Rush: $25 tickets are available at the box office 90 minutes before each performance for people with a valid veteran ID card. $11 tickets are available for films at BAM Rose Cinemas.

Classic Stage Company

$35 for 35 and under: $35 tickets are available for people 35 and under. Use discount code Classic35 when checking out, and bring a valid ID to the box office when you pick up the tickets. Limit 2 tickets per person.

Rush Tickets: $30 rush tickets are available for purchase at the box office for same-day performances one hour prior to curtain. 1 ticket per person, subject to availability.

Student Rush: $20 student tickets available at the box office 1 hour prior to curtain. Limit 1 ticket per valid student ID. Subject to availability.

Teen10: Middle and High School students can use the discount code TEEN10 when checking out to get $10 tickets for certain “Teen Takeover” performances. Subject to availability.

US Military and Veteran Tickets: US military, veterans, and their immediate families can get 50% off tickets, limit 4 tickets per customer per event. Email boxoffice@classicstage.org with proof of military/veteran status to book these tickets.

Friends of CSC: A limited number of $20 are available for some performances. Sign up to be get occasional email promo codes for certain shows.

Greenseats (Under 40): $25 tickets are available for people under the age of 40. The program is free to join and includes events like talkbacks, happy hours, and networking.

$22 on 22nd Street: $22 tickets are available for every preview performance. Limit 2 tickets per person, and tickets are available for purchase starting at 1pm two weeks prior to the first preview performance. Anyone can buy these tickets.

Group Sales: Get a 20% discount for groups of 10 or more. Or get a 50% discount for groups of 10 or more students. Email boxofficemanager@irishrep.org to book.

Senior Discount: Seniors receive $10 off each ticket with a valid ID. Subject to availability, and tickets must be purchased at the box office or over the phone.

Rush Tickets: Half price tickets are available one hour prior to curtain. Subject to availability.

Digital Lottery: Lottery tickets are available on TodayTix.

Playwrights Welcome: If you’re a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, you can get free tickets for same-day preview performances, pending availability. Just head to the box office and show your Dramatists Guild membership card.

Military/First Responders Discount: Active military, veterans, first responders, and their families can receive free tickets on the day of the performance. Valid ID required, and tickets are based on availability and must be purchased in person at the box office.

Lincoln Center Theater

LincTix: If you’re 18 to 35 years old, join LincTix to get $32 to $35.50 tickets. Free to join, and the program also offers perks like post-show parties. These discounts are available for both the LCT off-Broadway and Broadway theater.

Student Rush: Students with a valid ID for a high school, college, or graduate program can get $32 tickets starting two hours before curtain. One ticket per valid ID, subject to availability, and does not include LCT3 productions.

Military: LCT often offers discounts to US Military personnel, veterans, and their immediate families. Check out what discounts are currently being offered at LCT’s Blue Star Theatres page.

30 Under 35 program: $30 tickets are available to people aged 35 and under. Limit 2 tickets per person with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

College Undergrads (free tickets!): College students enrolled in a college or university located in Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, or Staten Island. Limit 2 tickets per production.

Military: MTC offers 30% off tickets to shows at the Friedman and 50% off tickets at NYC Center Stage 1. For tickets at the Samuel J Friedman Broadway Theatre, use code MILITARY30 online, at the box office or on the phone. For tickets at NYC Center Stage 1, use code MLTY.

General Rush: $35 rush tickets available two hours before curtain, subject to availability. Must be purchased at the box office, limit 2 tickets per person. If a performance is sold out, there will be a cancellation line.

Student Rush: $25 student rush tickets available two hours prior to curtain. 1 ticket per valid student ID, and tickets must be purchased at the box office.

40 and Under: Get $28 tickets if you’re 40 years old or younger. Free to join and subject to availability.

Student Rush: $23 tickets available for purchase at the box office, subject to availability and maximum of two tickets per valid ID.

New York Theatre Workshop

First Two Preview Performances: Every ticket price is just $25 for the first two performances of every show. These tickets are available to purchase in person, online, or over the phone.

CheapTix Rush: $25 tickets are available for anyone who is under 25, over 65, an artist, or a resident in the East Village or Lower East Side. Tickets must be purchased in person at the box office with valid ID. Maximum of two tickets per person.

Student Discount: Half-price tickets are available for students with a valid student ID.

Under 30 Discount: $30 tickets are available for most events for people 30 and under. Valid ID will be required to pick up tickets. Use the promo code UNDER30 when checking out to receive this discount.

Responder Discount: $30 tickets are available to US military, police officers, firefighters, and nurses.

Educator Discount: $30 tickets are available to full-time teachers with valid school ID.

Playwrights Horizons

Young Membership: $30 discount tickets are available to people 35 and under. One ticket per show.

Student Membership: $20 tickets are available to full time students. One ticket per show.

Rush Tickets: Some shows at Playwrights Horizons have discounted rush tickets. Call the box office at 212-279-4200 to see if they are available.

Public Theater

Student Tickets: $40 tickets are available to purchase at the box office with a valid student ID. Up to two tickets per person and per production. These tickets are not available when the performance is sold out.

HipTix: $30 tickets are available to people 18 to 40 years old. 2 tickets per valid student ID (guest can be any age).

HipTix High: $10 tickets are available to high school students ages 14 to 18.

Student Rush: Tickets are half price for people with a valid student ID. Just head to the box office a half hour before curtain.

General Rush: A limited number of mezzanine tickets are available at the box office for same-day performance, subject to availability.

Military: Roundabout offers 40% off tickets to US Military personnel, veterans, and their immediate families. Use code RTCBLUE in the appeal code box when ordering online, mention the code when calling 212-719-1300, or visit the box office of any of the Roundabout Theatres to buy tickets. Signature Access Membership: Signature Theatre offers $40 tickets (no fees) for certain seats during the regular run of all of their performances. Members of Signature Access can also purchase tickets a week before they go on sale to the public and enjoy a 10% discount at the café in the theater’s lobby. People working in education, the public sector, nonprofit employees, nonprofit theater workers, military/veterans, public benefit recipients, people with visual, hearing, or physical impairments, and IDNYC cardholders all qualify.

Student Membership: $20 tickets are available to students, limit 2 tickets per production. Students can also get $30 tickets for non-student guests, also limited to 2 per production. Signature also offers Student Nights, masterclasses, backstage tours, and 15% off to the café and bookstore.

The Shed

Ticket Access Program: The Shed partners with organizations like the New York City Housing Authority, CUNY, Stein/Sirovich Senior Center, Lambda School, the Center, the Department of Youth and Community Development, and Henry Street Settlement to provide free to steeply discounted tickets. If your organization would like to partner with the shed, email tap@theshed.org for more information.

IDNYC: The Shed offers a one-year free membership to all IDNYC cardholders. The membership includes 15% off two tickets for every Shed production, early access to tickets, and 10% discount at the Shed bar and shop.

Discounted Membership: artists, students, seniors, and military and their families can take advantage of a discounted membership by emailing members@theshed.org.

Standby Ticket Policy: $20 standby tickets are available at the box office starting 30 minutes before curtain based on availability. Cash only, limit 2 tickets per person.

Good Neighbor Program: A limited amount of $35 tickets are available for every performance. Tickets are open to anyone and can be purchased online or over the phone.

Playwrights Welcome: FREE tickets are available to members of the Dramatists Guild of America by presenting a membership card at the box office. One ticket per member per production based on availability.

Under 40 Membership: For $40, get access to two $20 per show for the entire season. Also get access to tickets before they go on sale to the public, get the flexibility to reschedule tickets with no exchange fees, and get 20% off merchandise and concessions. Available to people aged 40 and under.

Theatre Artist Membership: For $40, get access to two $20 per show for the entire season. Also get access to tickets for upcoming performances before they go on sale to the public, get the flexibility to reschedule tickets with no exchange fees, and get 20% off merchandise and concessions. Available to anyone with a union card, arts organization employee, professional website, or student ID from a university or accredited theatrical training program.

TodayTix Rush and Lottery: Check TodayTix for Digital Rush and Lottery options, as well as sites like Lucky Seat and Broadway Direct. These sites often have steep discounts for even popular Tony Award winning shows.

Group Sales Discount: Travelling with a group? Broadway Inbound offers discounts to groups over 10 and offers special rates for young people and student groups.

TDF: If you live in New York City, look into a TDF Membership. Many people qualify, and a range of theater and live performance events are offered at big discounts. TDF (Theatre Development Fund) also runs the TKTS booth, which offers last-minute theater tickets for up to 50% off. Visit the booth in Times Square near 47th Street and Broadway – look for the giant red steps, you can’t miss it – and get an off-Broadway or Broadway ticket for less!
